More than 30 people were arrested when Pattaya-area authorities and soldiers raided an underground casino in Jomtien Beach.

Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong led the Aug. 3 operation at a private home on Jomtien Beach Road.

Some gamblers jumped a fence while others hid, but Naris said all 33 inside at the time of the raid were arrested.

Authorities confiscated 17,080 baht, cards and electronic devices. Homeowner Rungroj Payungwong, 47, was one of those arrested.

Army officials said the same house was raided in April. They added an investigation showed Rungroj had 14 million baht in the bank, and were investigating his “unusual wealth”.
