The chain-reaction crash began when a baht bus driven by Khamphuth Chaowchiengyuen smashed into the side of an Isuzu pickup truck that pulled out from Soi 89 in front of her. A Honda City and Toyota Fortuner were impacted in the aftermath with all four vehicles heavily damaged.

Khamphuth said she had to stop before hitting the pickup. She then was rear-ended then by the tailgating Honda before losing control and smashing into the Fortuner.

Isuzu driver Surin Promlee, 48, said parked cars along Sukhumvit blocked his field of view as he pulled out into traffic without seeing the baht bus.
