Sattahip police arrested 40 people for drunk driving at the Songkran finale for the Wat Phayup Community.
Police set up two checkpoints at each end of Soi Bonkai for the April 16 “wan lai” celebration and randomly tested drivers of motorbikes and pickup trucks. Thirty drivers and 65 riders were tested and 40 were found to over the legal limit for alcohol use.
All those arrested face up to a year in jail and up to 20,000 baht in fines, plus the suspension of their driver’s licenses for at least six months.
