Nearly 90 Royal Thai Navy sailors were offered vocational training in four areas to help them transition to private-sector life.

Capt. Prasan Sukkaset of the Military Career Development Division, and Vice Adm. Wattanachai Piyaphat introduced trainers from the Department of Skills Development, Rayong Skills Center, Institute for Skills Development Region 3, and Thai Shipowner’s Association at the April 18 event in Sattahip.

Six general-technician and commercial-mariner courses were offered. The motorbike technician, electrical technician, small air-conditioning technician, and forklift handling courses were attended by 58 sailors while the boat courses were taken by 29 servicemen.

Prasan said the vocational training was to provide knowledge, expertise and skills in order to have job opportunities outside the military.
