Chonburi’s deputy governor said more than 90,000 Chonburi women have applied for financial aid through Thailand’s new Women’s Empowerment Fund.
At a June 22 progress meeting, Pornchai Kwansakul said the province has been allocated 100 million baht to combat domestic abuse and a dearth of economic opportunities for women by offering low- and no-interest loans to develop incomes, jobs and careers.
At the meeting, the deputy governor received an update on getting Chonburi’s program up and running before year end. District-level boards have already been established directors of the province-wide board were expected to be chosen June 24.
