An alleged loan shark and his accused enforcers have been arrested for the beating of a late-paying customer in South Pattaya.
Ekachai Saikham, 28, and cohorts Suphachai Phophirom, 27, and Chaiyo Phonthamak, 27, were taken into custody May 24, a day after they allegedly bludgeoned Noppadol Srihuahae, 38, in front of his family at their Soi Sompoi home in South Pattaya.
Noppadol told police he had recently borrowed 40,000 baht from Ekachai, whom he had known for 10 years. He said he missed an 800-baht interest payment because he and his family had been out selling goods at market, so Ekachai came with two thugs to collect.
The suspects said Noppadol was drunk and refused to pay.
Police said the trio punched Noppadol in the face until he fell and hit his head on a flower pot.
The trio were charged with assault and operating an illegal loan company.
