Coast Guard agencies from 19 countries met in Pattaya May 28 to discuss environmental issues and disaster preparedness.
Marine Police commander Maj. Gen. Bunsueb Phrathuan chaired the 9th Working Level Meeting for Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies and 9th Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting at the Dusit Thani Hotel. The four-day session was co-sponsored by the Japan Association of Marine Safety and Nippon Foundation.
The meeting focused on research and sea rescue, marine environment maintenance, preparation for natural disasters, and prevention of accidents. Members met to get to know each other and work towards working together during times of need, especially during times of international disasters. They also laid groundwork for the next top-level meeting, date and time for which will be announced later.
