Unable to charge three Naklua bag-snatching suspects with theft, police jailed the trio on drug-use charges.
Prempreedi Praphitthang, 19, Thamsak Nunoi, 40, Pornchai Khongsri, 30, were arrested Dec. 12 after police found four women’s handbag’s in their Wong Amat Beach house.
Pornchai Khongsri, Thamsak Nunoi, and Prempreedi Praphitthang were arrested on drugs charges.
All the bags were reported stolen by foreign tourists but, because the victims likely already returned home, none were claimed, leaving police with no victims to identify the suspects as the thieves.
Instead, all three men were drug-tested. Banglamung Hospital confirmed all had been using methamphetamines and the suspects were charged with use of a Class 1 narcotic.
