A Bangkok man has been arrested for allegedly robbing transvestites he met through Facebook.
Weerachai Piyawisut, 33, was apprehended in a June 13 sting operation in Pattaya set up after a local transvestite filed a complaint at Lardprao Police Station that he’d been scammed by a Bangkok ladyboy looking for a date.

Pattaya police used a fake Facebook account to set up a liaison with the Bang Kapi man, then arrested him when he arrived. A search of his room recovered a gold necklace, gold earring, gold pendant, gold ring, 13 micro-SD cards, 12 micro-SD adapters, 12 computer mice, 11 watches, seven mobile phones, 13 laptop bags, 16 wallets, and 4 Buddha amulets in gold frames.
Police said Weerachai confessed to a long-running scam using the online service to arrange dates with gay men and women, then rob them while the victims slept. He’d then resell the goods at Bangkok markets.
