An Iranian tourist who left his belongings on the beach for an after-dark swim returned to find them gone.

Sajjad Falahatpishen, 36, and his Russian wife filed a theft report July 30. They went for a swim and left their clothes, expensive smartphone, 1,000 baht cash and hotel key on Dongtan Beach.

Witness Nawin Sasomthong, 25, said a group of young men was sitting near where the Iranian left his property. He didn’t see the youths take the belongings, but noticed they disappeared after the couple went into the sea.

Police are investigating.
