Pattaya police got a step closer to busting a major area drug dealer with the arrest of his alleged messenger.
Jarukpong Sabthong, 24, was captured in a sting operation July 7 outside a convenience store near Rung Reuang Village by Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong and security officers.
The arrest came after district officers nabbed a drug user earlier in the week who alleged Jarukpong was his dealer. The suspect then set up a drug buy for 20 methamphetamine tablets.
But after accepting the 2,000 baht for the drugs, Jarukpong realized he’d been set up. He pushed his girlfriend to the ground and jumped on the motorbike they arrived on and sped away.
He didn’t get far, however, and was caught with the marked bills.
Police said Jarukpong argued he was only a messenger for a large dealer named “Beer”. He took authorities to Beer’s hideout, but the wanted man was not there.
Police charged Jarukpong with possession of a Class 1 narcotic and will continue their quest for Beer.
