Belarusian brothers busted for ATM skimming

Two brothers from Belarus were arrested for allegedly using fake electronic cards to steal money from Thai ATMs.

The International Crime Suppression Center tipped off police, leading to the arrest of Antoli Aleksandrovich, 31, and Siarhei Aleksandrovich, 28, near the BTS Skytrain’s Siam station in Bangkok Oct. 29. On Siarhei, officers found 208 counterfeit cards for bank customers in the Middle East and Europe.

From the older brother, officers confiscated 186 additional bogus cards, an ATM skimmer and 92,000 baht cash.

Karapet Yepramian, allegedly the third member of the gang, managed to escape.

Police said Antoli confessed a third member of his gang, Karapet Yepramian, 26, managed to escape. He allegedly was the one who provided the brothers with the fake cards. Their orders were to hit Pattaya and Bangkok ATMs and withdraw as much money as possible and keep 5 percent of it.

He said the two had been at it for two weeks.
