Big snakes were seemingly everywhere last week, with giant pythons caught in both Pattaya and Sattahip.
Sawang Boriboon Foundation staffers responded to Naklua Soi 15 Nov. 4 after a report of a three-meter-long reticulating python in a tree.
It took only a few minutes to snare the snake and it was released again into the wild far from people.
Restaurant owner Chatchawal Tasa, 49, said her dog was barking and howling at something and she investigated to find the snake.
She was happy that her dog, which often chases down the slithering reptiles, didn’t go after this one due to its size.
In Sattahip, another dog wasn’t so lucky.
Chatchawal Tasa said she was happy her dog, which often chases down the slithering reptiles, didn’t go after this one due to its size.
A three-meter-long python gobbled up nearly 30 chickens and a guard dog before it was finally captured Nov. 3.
Pairoj Yuchareon, 71, called animal-control officers to his Soi Khaopetch home in Moo 3 village after he caught the snake eating his dog.
The reticulating python weighed around 70 kilograms, but was stuck in the netting surrounding a chicken pen due to the large mass of canine in its stomach.
Pairoj Yuchareon wasn’t as lucky, as this huge snake did eat his guard dog.
Four officers took about 20 minutes to get the snake out of the netting before releasing it back into the forest.
Pairoj said he has lost chickens in the past, two at a time and thought that somebody had stolen them. In all, 30 chickens had disappeared down the reptile’s gullet.
