Pattaya will host its annual Buddhist Lent candle competition and parade July 14-15.
Deputy Mayor Wattana Chantanawaranon said at a June 13 meeting that registration for the two-day event will begin at 1 p.m. July 14. The Beach Road parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Central Road and travel to the entrance of Walking Street. Traffic will be blocked off during that time.

Parade floats will be judged and prizes given following the procession, with the vehicles displayed that evening for the public.
On July 15, city staff, students, and residents will present the winning Buddhist lent candles to the Buddhist House Nong Or in Central Pattaya. Candles will be judged on beauty and creativity.
Applications to join in the competition are being taken through July 12 at the Pattaya Education Department or call 038-253-100 ext. 3211 or 3226 during business hours.
