The champagne flat, the parties over, it was time for Thais to return home after New Year’s and they all seemed to go through the city bus station.
The Roong Reuang Coach Co. terminal in North Pattaya was packed Jan. 3 as interprovincial buses departed and returned from Bangkok’s northern and eastern stations.
There was a long line for tickets to the Mor Chit and Ekamai depots and all the coaches were fully booked well in advance. People arriving at 1 p.m. had to wait until 4 p.m. to get a ride.
The station also had plenty of tourists, many traveling with friends or loved ones. With the plastic chairs taken, many simply sat on the floor of the open-air terminal.
