Sattahip officials are hunting for the driver who flipped his car and left the scene before help arrived.
Police and paramedics were called to Sukhumvit Road outside Sirisa 8 Village May 9 where they found a wrecked and upside down Honda compact. Inside the Rayong-registered vehicle were unopened beer bottles and personal belongings, but no driver.
After about 20 people turned the car upright, they searched the area and checked with area hospitals, but still could not locate the motorist.
Supachai Wongpinit, an emergency support worker at Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center, said he witnessed the crash, which occurred behind him as he drove down Sukhumvit. He saw the car flip and turned around at the next U-turn, but by the time he arrived, the driver was gone.
Officials said the driver could have been taken by someone to a hospital or simply fled on foot. They are looking into it.
