A convicted car burglar and drug addict was arrested again for allegedly burglarizing the room of an Irish guest at a Jomtien Beach hotel.
Pattaya and Tourist police announced the arrest of Youthin Putthapradith of Bangkok Sept. 18 for burglarizing the room of William Joseph, 70, four days earlier. Police recovered an Apple iPad and a Samsung mobile phone.
Joseph filed a complaint that he awoke to find his room ransacked and his electronics and 100,000 baht in foreign currency missing.
Security cameras captured Youthin, who checked into the hotel as a guest, turning doorknobs at the unnamed Jomtien hotel and entering Joseph’s room, which had been left unlocked.
He was captured later on Walking Street with the iPad and phone.
Police said Youthin confessed that he needed money for drugs. He was busted for methamphetamine use in Pattaya in 2012 and car burglary in Bangkok in 2009.
