More than 30 senior citizens and children celebrated Mother’s Day at the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort with dancing, poetry and a holiday lunch.

General Manager Robert John Lohrmann hosted the Aug. 9 party with residents of the Banglamung Home for the Elderly and kids from the Father Ray Children’s Village.

Children put on a dance performance for the seniors while the hotel handed out balloons to the kids, who joined together to sing “Value of Mother’s Milk.” They also read poems written to express their reverence for mothers.

After the show, Centara invited the 30 seniors and juniors to lunch, at which the 15 children presented jasmine flowers to the 15 seniors. Afterward, everyone lit candles and sang the national anthem.

“Thais know very well that every August 12th is the day where love between mothers and children is celebrated,” Lohrmann said. “This year, the hotel wanted to bring happiness to both children and seniors.”
