A Cambodian woman allegedly killed her 5-year-old son before trying to slit her own throat in a murder-suicide gone bad.
Police and paramedics were called to the Soi Marbtatoo 4 home of Panla Bon, 47, in Nongprue’s Moo 13 village May 18. There they found her son, Rung, dead of a cut throat and her bleeding profusely from two apparently self-inflicted knife wounds to neck.
Two neighbors told police Panla killed her son and cut her own neck in a suicide attempt, but failed. One neighbor detained the injured woman to prevent any more injury and called police.
Police said Panla had been distressed because her husband had been gone a month without contacting her.
She was taken to Banglamung Hospital for treatment before police proceed with murder charges against her.
