Two ethnic Chinese men were arrested in Pattaya and charged with using fake credit cards.

Taiwan national Chen Hung Cheng, 27, and Wang Fuhui, 30 of China, were captured with 17 bogus cards, three computers, three cellphones and a magnetic strip data reader along with 15,000 baht cash Jan. 12.

Immigration police had received word that the two men, believed to be part of a card-fraud gang, had entered Thailand and three search warrants were issued for houses in Seagull Village in Jomtien Beach.

But before police ever made it to the houses, they spotted the two men standing in front of the TJ Resort Hotel. The counterfeit cards were found in a bag they were carrying.

Police said Chen confessed he worked for Laotian Wen Ping with orders to buy brand-name goods that could be hawked for cash. He received three percent of the take and had been working in the gang for almost four years.

Wang confessed he was in charge of finding credit card information of banks in Laos before sending it to Wen Ping. He got up to two percent of all income and had been working for a month.
