Pattaya police arrested a Chinese man for allegedly blackmailing a woman from his home country with a sex tape.
Li Wei Bin, 26, was taken into custody at his Second Road condominium May 30 after a complaint from a 26-year-old Chinese woman that he repeatedly extorted her to keep a hidden-camera video from being made public.
She claimed she knew Li through her business and that he had kept her in his room to have sex and secretly made a video. He then repeatedly asked for money to keep the movie under wraps, but the breaking point came when he recently demanded another 50,000 baht.
Police gave her the 50,000 baht in marked bills and set up a sting operation, which the Chinese man fell for. He was caught with the money and charged with extortion.
