PATTAYA, Thailand – A 43-year-old Chinese tourist lost control of his white Toyota Alphard luxury van while driving along Jomtien Second Road on January 21. The van flipped onto its side, blocking the road and causing a massive traffic jam for over half an hour.
Rescue workers arrived at the scene and found the Chinese tourist with minor injuries. He was treated on-site before being transported to the hospital. In addition to the overturned van, a black Chevrolet Cruze and a black Honda Civic, which had been parked on the side of the road, were also damaged in the accident. The driver of the Civic, a Turkish tourist, was lucky to escape without injury.
Witnesses reported that the van swerved and appeared to be heading towards the sidewalk before crashing into the rear of the parked vehicles, causing it to roll over. The community helped rescue the driver from the van before authorities arrived.
Pattaya Police conducted an alcohol breath test on the driver as part of their investigation. The incident is being processed according to legal procedures.
