Chinese tourist assaulted and robbed in Pattaya’s dark alley—local hero steps in to help.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A patrol officer from Pattaya City Police Station received a report of a foreign tourist who had been assaulted and abandoned in the middle of Soi Thepprasit 6/1, South Pattaya, at around 5:16 AM on April 12. The officer promptly reported to Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station, before rushing to the scene with patrol officers.

Upon arrival, police found Mr. Li Hailong, a 37-year-old Chinese national and YouTuber, bleeding from a split lip, with a bruised right eye and multiple abrasions on his body. A concerned local had called for help after spotting the injured tourist.

According to Mr. Li, he had been out enjoying nightlife at an entertainment venue in Pattaya, where he met two other Chinese nationals. The two convinced him to get into a car with them. However, instead of continuing the night out, they allegedly drove him to a remote alley, assaulted him despite his pleas for mercy, and stole his mobile phone before leaving him injured in the street.

A local woman, Ms. Buayen Hongsoda, 50, who happened to ride past the alley on her motorcycle, noticed a bloodied man stumbling near a bend in the road. At first, she feared he might be dangerous, but upon hearing his calls for help, she stopped to assist. Mr. Li told her he had been attacked and robbed by fellow Chinese nationals, prompting her to immediately call the police.

Officers determined Mr. Li was intoxicated and arranged for his transport to the hospital for treatment. They also advised him to formally file a complaint at Pattaya City Police Station. Investigators are now working to gather evidence and determine the full circumstances of the incident.

Police have yet to confirm the exact sequence of events, but they stated that if any individuals are found responsible, legal action will be taken in accordance with Thai law.
