Chonburi Cancer Hospital observed International Breast Cancer Day with activities aimed at raising awareness of prevention, treatment and research.
Cancer organizations around the world have organized campaigns to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention and research for 21 years. Pink ribbons have become the symbol for the international campaign.
Suthat said the best prevention method for breast cancer is the annual examinations, either with mammograms or physical checks by doctors or by women themselves. Although mammography is the most efficient method, it doesn’t detect all types of cancer.
If a patient gets diagnosis and treatment quickly, it can reduce the severity of cancer. Breast cancer can be cured about 80-90 percent of the time.
Suthat said correct and constant checks for breast cancer can find tumors in the beginning stages, which is very useful for treatment. (PDRC)
