Chonburi and district-level governments have opened complaint centers aimed at solving problems and better communicating with residents, as per an order from the National Council for Peace and Order.

Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Wiboon Sanguanphong and Chonburi Gov. Khomsan Ekachai toured the Chonburi Operations Center in its temporary office at Chonburi City Hall July 29, later stopping at the Banglamung District Office where the Banglamung complaint center is located. Chonburi will move its center to a permanent location at Wang Chaiya People’s Service Centre in Nang Lerng Sept. 4.

Establishment of the complaint centers comes after the NCPO ordered local governments to set up facilities to offer information and advice to the public, a direct method to file complaints with public agencies, provide one-stop service counters, hear problems or take recommendations from the public.

Chonburi’s provincial service center is a joint operation of the Sattahip Naval Base, Region 2 police, the 14th Military Circle and the Chonburi State’s Attorney. It will be managed by the Chonburi Peace Maintenance Department and Chonburi police.

Issues expected to be handled are problems with drugs, deforestation and public-land encroachment, illegal labor, human trafficking and judicial mediation.
