Inmates at Chonburi Central Prison are undergoing random drug tests to stem the flow of illegal narcotics in and out of jails.
Deputy Gov. Thawatchai Rongngam led the squadron of 185 police officers, soldiers, prison guards and health workers on the latest round of tests Jan. 24.
No results were released.
Thawatchai said Chonburi has been randomly testing inmates since November to comply with a government directive to curb drug use. Many large drug networks are run from behind bars. (CPRD)
