Chonburi’s governor paid Pattaya a Songkran visit to check on marine-safety measures undertaken during the Thai New Year.

Pakarathorn Thienchai met Banglamung District Chief Naris Niramaiwong and Marine Department chief Eakaraj Khantaro, soldiers and police at Bali Hai Pier April 15 for the loudly telegraphed “snap inspection”.

The governor said the visit was organized not only to check on safety procedures, but also the well-being of officers, volunteers and tourists. He took a good look around the packed pier to see that all passengers were wearing life jackets.

He then moved on to a road checkpoint outside the Banglamung District office and gave out energy drinks to those manning the station. He thanked them for their efforts.
