Chonburi has begun planning for its annual “stop violence against children, women and in families” campaign.
Deputy Gov. Chamnanwit Taerat presided over the May 12 planning session with officials from the province’s Office of Social Development and Human Security. Participating in the campaign are police, courts, public prosecutors, doctors, nurses, homes for children and families, and other private organizations.
Social Development Director Suchitra Pittayanoraseth said the campaign has been run since 2008. “Our focus is on the youth in educational institutions, women’s groups and community leaders, including police officers,” she said.

“We train and encourage all the people concerned to understand the law better so that they can work in unison to protect victims these injustices and violence.”
Chamnanwit said the law protecting women and children also has been in effect since 2008. “We have shared this information and knowledge to many focus groups for them to implement in their communities,” he said.
“Today we are focusing on local administrative officers, community leaders, village heads, volunteers in the Social Development and Human Security office, sub-district hospitals and the general public,” he added.
He asked all participants to understand the law thoroughly and work together to protect women and children from domestic and social atrocities against them.
