Fire prevention for Chinese New Year, vaccinations and dates of upcoming festivals topped the agenda at Chonburi’s monthly heads of civil service meeting.
Gov. Khomsan Ekachai chaired the Jan. 29 session attended by provincial administrators, district chiefs, mayors and the public. The meeting was aired on FM 99.75 MHz and CTV Channel 20.
Khomsan said the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department is prepping prevention and response plans for fires stemming from Chinese New Year fireworks Feb. 18-22.

Chinese New Year also features the worship festival of Cho Por Khao Yai at Koh Sichang. Therefore the DPM also is preparing for accidents on land and water. The festival will be held for 34 days from Feb. 19 to March 29.
From May 1-30, Chonburi is offering free diphtheria vaccinations for people ages 20-60 at the Public Health Department. A ceremony will be held May 2 for the inoculations, which are being offered in honor of HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s 60th birthday.
Khomsan also announced the annual Colors of the East tourism-promotion festival will be held in Pattaya from Feb. 26-March 1.
The meeting wrapped with news that a survey of 932 Chonburi residents found most were satisfied with the province’s Children’s Day celebrations, as well as the announcement of new civil-service appointments, including the naming of Pornchai Thomkrajang as the new Sriracha district chief, replacing Wichai Sampanrat, who retired. Pornchai previously was the Hua Hin district chief.
