The Chonburi Red Cross is cutting by almost half the number of charity projects it plans to organize next year.

Without giving a reason why, Chonburi Red Cross President Busarawadee Ekachai said the 2014 calendar currently has only nine events planned to help women, children, the elderly and disaster victims. In 2013, the organization ran 16 events.

In line with the smaller plans, the Red Cross is seeking less money from the province’s localities. It has requested funding of 5 million baht for 2014, down from 8.6 million baht this year.

Bussarawadee also announced the promotion of Chonburi Red Cross second vice president Wilailuk Kwansakul to vice president, replacing Chonburi Deputy Gov. Adisak Thepass, who was reassigned to be governor of Nakhon Phanom. Preeya Saisupatpol was named second vice president.
