City employees take northern Thailand junket to study physical fitness

A select group of city employees set off on a junket to northern Thailand last week under the premise of studying the health and psychological impact of physical fitness.

The civil servants made stops at Chiang Mai and Lampang city halls and the Doi Ang Khang Royal Projects Development Center on the Jan. 21-24 trip. The junket cost the city 300,000 baht.

Deputy Mayor Verawat Khakhay prepped the bureaucrats for their arduous journey by having them sit through a half day of lectures. He spoke on how physical fitness correlates to personality while Wannaporn Jamjumrus, director of the Public Health and Environment Office, spoke on physical fitness development.

The deputy mayor said the lecture and trip was to prepare city employees to be ready for the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
