Pattaya continued its anti-corruption indoctrination of city employees at the second of its monthly seminars.
Mayor Anan Charoenchasri opened the Sept. 11 workshop for 107 civil servants featuring speakers Chali Duangdaram, director of staffing, and consultant Noparataopol Sriboonak.
The meeting came a month after city workers were warned about the consequences for corruption during a briefing by the Anti-Money Laundering Office.
This seminar focused on running a clean operation, both in the office and out in the field. Honesty and integrity were described as ways for city workers to obtain wage increases and promotions, as opposed to taking bribes.
Top Pattaya officials have echoed the anti-corruption mantra of the military brass who appointed them two years ago and have tried to instill that sentiment in low-paid municipal workers and police.
Speakers said the public doesn’t trust the regulatory enforcement officers who regulate street vendors, or city staff. But creating a track record of honesty will build trust.
