Pattaya officials and the Naklua Bay Conservation Group joined forces to clean up the Nok Yang Canal area to raise awareness about the need to conserve the community’s natural resources.
Deputy Mayor Wutisak Rermkitkarn and city council members Vichet Nongyai and Morakot Noohuang joined the conservationists and employees from area hotels Jan. 14 at the Chao Por Si Nin shrine park.

Such activities are aimed at reviving the ecosystem of mangrove forests and beautifying the landscape that is gradually deteriorating. Officials urged residents not to litter in the canal. More cleanups are planned monthly through May.
