Contemporary art exhibition slated for Jan. 29-Feb. 7

Contemporary artists will compete for royal recognition in the third Royal Exhibition Honoring HM the King, Jan. 29-Feb. 7 at Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

The Chonburi Cultural Promotion Department met with artists, mall executives and Pattaya city officials Jan. 4 to plan the event, which will see HRH Princess Soamsawalee officially open the exhibit and present honorary plaques Jan. 30.

Prasit Athinnawong, director of the Bangkok Art and Cultural Center, said the exhibition aims to sponsor, promote and broadcast recreational contemporary art and culture to increase intellect and integrate it into society to open opportunities for artists to exchange creative art experience and inspire students to attend more art events.

The event, which will run daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., will feature performances by artists and country musicians. The final day will offer a seminar from famous artists including Klom Thassnanchalee, Preecha Thaothong, and Thongchai Rakprathum. In all, more than 200 artisans are expected to attend.
