It took a panic-inducing hail of gunfire, but Nongprue police finally got their man.
Officers who felt they had no alternative but to open fire on a fleeing suspect’s pickup truck at the South Pattaya Big C Supercenter set off a scramble as pedestrians and shoppers dove for cover.
The officers, however, justified their use of force, saying it helped them cuff Wasan Pookprathum, 31, who was caught with 118 methamphetamine tablets and 4.4 grams of crystal meth July 28.
Also arrested was Sunitsa Chanpanya, 22.
Police said Wasan confessed to dealing drugs he bought in Pathum Thani to Pattaya area youths. He was charged with possession with intent to sell a Class 1 narcotic.
