The Pattaya City Council has approved 14.8 million baht to rebuild the foundation under the Wong Amat Beach footpath and protect it from future erosion.

The project includes an 810-sq.-meter rock-filled wall that serves as the base for the footpath and protects it from erosion caused by water flowing out of flood-drainage pipelines. A soil retaining wall and repairs to the sidewalk surface itself also are included.
The Wong Amat pavement and bricks sustained heavy damage from recent storms and a foundation wall that supports the footpath was broken as well.
The council sped up the budget allocation and even authorized payment to a contractor immediately as all the council members would be retired and replaced by the military regime on June 16.
