A southern man and his young girlfriend have been arrested for allegedly murdering a masseuse and dumping her body on the side of a highway in Huay Yai.
Sorasith Phumkittisawad, 38, from Surat Thani, and his 23-year-old lover Sainam Srisila were brought to re-enact the September 2016 murder of Rachada Anuphab, 25, at their former apartment in Huay Yai’s Moo 4 village. They then showed how they left the body of the Nong Bua Lam Phu native in a shallow grave on the side of Route 331.
Sorasith confessed that the couple had never met Rachada before she asked to join them to drink at their apartment. He woke the next morning to find 3,000 baht missing and accused the masseuse of taking it.
He claimed she got angry and attacked him with a knife, so he bludgeoned her to death with a piece of wood. He then rented a car to dump the body and left it in Bangkok before fleeing to Nakhon Ratchasima.
For the next eight months, Sainam worked in a massage parlor while Sorasith stayed home.
Investigators eventually tracked the couple to Korat. They’ve been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
