A Plutaluang couple accused of killing a 2-year-old girl they were hired to babysit has been released pending charges by Sattahip police.
Aphiwat Khruabun, 33, and his 32-year-old wife Phenphan were interviewed and let go by police June 4 after denying allegations they unintentionally killed Kanyaweer Chuawong while caring for her and her 3-year-old brother. Police told the couple to report back for more interrogation June 10.

Pavena Foundation for Women and Children councilors urged grieving parents Samrang Chuawong and Nam-oi Saengwilai to go to police June 4 following the funeral of their daughter. The foundation also arranged the funeral.
Nam-oi told Chonburi investigators that she’d hired the Khruabuns for 6,000 baht a month to watch her children as she and Samrang worked. On May 17, Phenphan had called her to say Kanyaweer had fallen ill and taken to Chonburi Hospital.
When Nam-oi arrived, doctors told her the child has suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and had bruising on her legs and arms consistent with being hit with an object. The child slipped into a coma and died June 1.
Despite signs of abuse, police were still pursuing charges of unintentional death. However, investigators said, the couple denied all charges and were thus released pending further investigation.
