A Danish man was charged with filing a false police report after claiming to have been robbed, allegedly in order to rip off his insurance company.
Nongprue police responded to the rail crossing on Soi Siam Country Club late Jan. 12 where they found a drunk Sonnich Burmoiie Jensen, 23, claiming he had been robbed at knifepoint.
Lost in the assault, he said, was 20,000 baht, a 2-baht-weight gold chain, an Apple iPhone 6 and other belongings.
Sonnich Burmoiie Jensen has been charged with filing a false police report.
Taken for further questioning at Nongprue Police Station, the Dane’s story began to fall apart once CCTV footage from the area was reviewed.
Eventually, he confessed he had made up the whole story. Police said he claimed to do so in order to file a claim with his insurance company.
The Danish embassy was contacted and Jensen charged with filing a false police report.
