Nongprue residents say a pitch-black Highway 7 access road poses danger both to cars and pedestrians and no one is taking responsibility.

The 600-meter stretch of road leading down from the Bangkok-Chonburi Motorway opposite Nongprue Kindergarten was well-lit when constructed, but the last of the streetlights burned out more than a year ago. No one replaced them.

Resident Thanawat Thongbai said the sloped road is a key connector with Pong and Khao Maikaew sub-districts, but has become a deathtrap for pedestrians trying to cross it, due to vehicles speeding in the dark.

He said locals contacted Nongprue Sub-district, but were told it was not their problem. The Highway Department should fix the lights.
