Pattaya plans to upgrade athletic fields at Pattaya schools 5 and 8 to keep kids out of the sun.
Deputy Mayor Pattana Boonsawat led city engineers and school officials in the surveys of the two schools Dec. 3.
At Pattaya School No. 5, Pattana proposed that a domed multi-purpose arena be built where youths can play indoor sports for good health and increase learning skills.
At School No. 8 the deputy mayor said a long-overdue upgrade to the worn football field was needed. Often without any grass, the field will be replanted and landscaping around the playground will be improved to add trees and shade to keep kids out of the sun and provide spaces for outdoor classroom sessions.
The Engineering Department was directed to create models of both the dome and the upgraded playground for budget consideration by the city council.
