Nongplalai sub-district mayor Pinyo Homklun supervises his task force who are working around the clock to clean out the drainage system in and around the municipality.

A Surveillance and Rapid Response Team has been set up in Nongplalai municipality in east Pattaya to tackle floods and natural disasters in and around their communities.

Mayor Pinyo Homklun admitted that drains and water storage ponds (monkey cheeks) were clogged or blocked by construction developers causing heavy flooding after the recent storms. The mayor assigned engineering teams to clean out drains and canals in the sub-district in preparation for more rain storms which are forecast for the next few days.

The Nongplalai Rapid Response Team is on standby 24 hours a day and citizens can call for assistance at Tel. 038-170667.

Clogged drains are the main cause of flooding; many of them have to be manually dredged.
