Eastern border-patrol squadrons rotate

The Royal Thai Navy rotated its border-patrol fleet covering the coast from Sattahip to Chantaburi and Trat.

Vice Adm. Sucheep Whoungmaitree presided over the rotation ceremony Dec. 30. Ships will patrol the eastern seas from Jan. 1 to March 15.

The patrol squadron consists of the HTMS Takbai, Tor 92, Tor 225, and Tor 226. It replaces a squadron comprised of the HTMS Klong Yai, Tor 113, Tor 216, and Tor 219, which began patrols there on Oct. 1.

Sucheep said the patrols are necessary to protect natural resources and incursions by foreign fishing boats or other invaders. He urged sailors to remain aware and vigilant.
