An elderly Finnish man died after apparently suffering cramps and drowning while swimming in his neighborhood pool.
Police found Pekka Koponen, 71, an hour after drowning at his Chokchai Garden Village 4 development on Soi Khao Noi Nov. 17. The body showed no other signs of assault or injury.
Witness Wongduan Obchua, 30, said she and her husband were swimming in the pool and had seen Koponen wade into the shallow end. When he began struggling, a foreign resident jumped in to help him and performed CPR, but the Finn died at the scene.
