Chonburi officials have ordered the demolition of a Sattahip restaurant’s waterfront extension found to be encroaching on public property.

Gov. Khomsan Ekachai on Sept. 28 directed district officials, backed by soldiers, Pattaya officials and Marine Department staffers, to act against the Srinuan restaurant on Najomtien’s Ban Amphur Beach.

District officials said the action came after a complaint from a local fisherman that the eatery filled in the sea to extend the restaurant, blocking a transit area for boats.

The boat route was blocked by a concrete dam it used for a walkway.

Upon consultation with the government and military, the restaurant operator agreed to demolish all construction as soon as possible.
