Pattaya workers removed roof awnings, seating areas and other property private landowners had placed on public land on Chalermprakiat Soi 19.
Maintenance chief Phuthiset Charoenpoj led a crew Oct. 4 to take down an extended roof over a parking area, clothes-drying racks, chairs, tables and seating area owned by five property owners.
All the residents grabbing up public land for their own use had been warned, but ignored the warnings, so city hall sent workers to remove all the offending items, claiming they posed obstacles for emergency vehicles.
