A Pattaya man who spent six years in prison for assault and motorcycle theft was arrested again with two stolen bikes.

Somdej Subyukon, 31, was captured Dec. 27 on Soi Land Office with two Honda Wave motorbikes and modified tools he used to steal them. Somej confessed and re-enacted for police how he took the vehicles.

Police said Somdej was arrested in 2012 in Huay Yai when, as part of the Ghost Aey gang, would kick over drivers of expensive road motorcycles, bludgeon their owners and steal the bikes.

He was released from prison in 2018 and is back at his former occupation, police said.

The two stolen bikes: a red-black Honda Wave plate no. Kor Chor 9751 Chonburi, and a white Honda Wave 125 plate no 1 Kor Chor 3771 Chonburi.

CCTV footage shows Somdej used a modified pair of pliers to steal a motorcycle.

Bike owners thank police for retrieving their motorcycles. Pol. Col. Pisit Poonsub, Superintendent of Pattaya Police, said bike owners should chain lock their motorcycle wheels when parking to avoid losing them to thieves.
