Faulty gas tank fire guts Chinese family kitchen in Pattaya

The gutted kitchen caused by a faulty gas cylinder in the holiday home that the Chinese family had rented for the duration of their holiday in Pattaya.

A faulty gas stove was blamed for igniting a fire that heavily damaged a Chinese family’s home in Pattaya.

Firefighters didn’t need long to extinguish the fire that began in the kitchen of the house in Sabaijai Village in Soi Kromtheedin (Land Office Road) Oct. 16. But the entire kitchen was gutted and all appliances destroyed.



Investigators said the fire began in the gas tank under a portable stove.

The unidentified members of the Chinese-speaking family said through an interpreter that they had asked a Thai friend to procure the stove as it was a holiday and a family gathering was planned.


The Chinese-speaking family told police that a Thai friend had procured the stove to prepare food for a family gathering.
