A young Finnish man was hurt when he inexplicably jumped into the under-construction Sukhumvit-Central roads bypass tunnel.
The unidentified man in his mid-20s, wearing only shorts, broke both his arms and smacked his head and was treated at Banglamung Hospital.
A taxi driver called authorities when he spotted the man run from an alley close to Soi Siam Country Club around 7 a.m., stand on a railing above one of the tunnel’s two entry ramps, then jump.
Other witnesses, rather than try to stop him, stood there and shot video they could upload to Facebook to get “likes”.
Online commenters said they feared that, once completed, the high walls bordering the entry to the subterranean bypass will become a favorite place for suicide attempts.
