The homes of three Royal Thai Navy personnel were destroyed in a fire while residents went out to vote on Election Day.
Fire crews from the Sattahip Fire Department, Royal Thai Marines, Sattahip City and Khet Udomsak responded to the Feb. 2 blaze on Soi Jolladol Suksa 9/5 at the Prince Chumphon Camp. Damage was estimated at more than 1 million baht.
Residents attempt to extinguish the blaze whilst waiting for firefighters to arrive.
The fire began in the home of Petty Officer 1st Class Phetcharat Lamdapwong. His daughter, 14-year-old Suphatra, said she was watching television when she smelled smoke coming from an upper-floor storeroom. She tried to put out the fire with a bucket of water, but it spread too quickly.
The fire jumped to homes on the right and left owned by Petty Officer 1st Class Chaiya Thongkhum and Petty Officer 1st Class Aphiwat Ruangrong, respectively. The flames were aggressive, with black smoke pouring out of all three homes.
It took firefighters about a half-hour to quell the flames. The cause of the blaze is still being investigated.
